Art from Eden

This one says "Mor" backwords (which means mom in Danish - notice the Danish flag :))
I'm not sure if I should be worried or proud that my daughter frequently spells words backwords. All thru preschool I think she wrote her name backwords. But the funny thing about it was she knew she was doing it because when we told her to write it the right way, she could. Hmmmm.....dislexia or talent in disguise?

This is the cutest picture. I don't know where her ideas come from, but I love them.

Once again, the ideas are pretty out there. I love the eyeball. And the Angelina Jolie lips on the fish. I don't like Angelina Jolie.....or Brad Pitt (just FYI).

This one has to be Pappa's favorite. It was actually a valentine she made for him. He thought it was hilarious, and it is, but I can't get over her imagination.

I think this is me and Andreas as cat people. I'm guessing I'm laughing at the suspenders. I'm laughing now thinking of Andreas in suspenders.

Hair off to the side seems to be a staple on all of her drawings of girls as of late.

And in with Eden's saved works of art are some drawings I have done for her. She LOVES it when I take the time to draw her a picture and saves EVERYTHING. She colored over this one and really made it better than I ever could have. (also, proof of the backwords writing too)

Another of my silly drawings, flower people.

And Pappa has done a few too. This is the most endearing picture a father (stepfather) could draw for his child. Him and Eden, walking hand in hand into the sunset. So sweet. He never draws ME pictures like that.

Snuggly Buggly Wuggly

There's nothing like the feeling you get when your child (in a rare serene moment) snuggles next to you and falls asleep. What's even more miraculous is when they let you know that it is time to go upstairs for bed. Emma says, "Mamma, it's time for bed. Will you go upstairs and lay with me?". It's the cutest thing EVER! And even though it makes me really sleepy, and half the time I fall asleep myself (at 8:30 - 9:00), I love that this has become her bedtime ritual.

On this particular night, she was just snuggling with me on the couch while I was watching King of Queens (what else) and was out like a light at 6:30pm. Andreas took the opportunity to snap a couple pictures. I'm surprised he still knows how to work the camera, since I'm always hogging it.

Pay no attention to how awful I look. Just notice how peaceful and beautiful this is.

Fargo prepares for flood

I'm thinking of my family and friends back home in Fargo ND, as they prepare themselves for the flood.

My sister's baby

My big sister is the creator and producer of a new garden show called "A Little Garden on the Prairie". It pertains specifically to zones 2-4. You can see it on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am (but forgive me, I'm not sure which local channel - My mom in Fargo gets it on channel 9). It is broadcast in MN, ND & SD. I haven't seen it yet (being in Denmark and all) but I hear it's good! Can't wait to see for myself! Go check out the website to see what they are all about, and get a few tips as well!

Things.....and stuff

Giant Bunnies

Our Easter basket, anxiously awaiting a visit from the Easter bunny. Although, judging by the size of the chocolate eggs we've seen while shopping (think, a 3 year old child fitting inside), I'm not sure I really want the Danish Easter bunny here.

Loft

We have this completely useless and inaccessible loft in our kitchen/dining area. At least we haven't figured out a use for it yet.

Window

One of the cool things about this house, which is over 100 years old. It's very charming. But there are also parts of the house that are new and have a charm of their own, just more contemporary. And for the record, modern Danish design is VERY cool!

Eggs

I'm fairly certain that egg sales in Græsted have tripled since I moved to town. Andreas thinks I have an unhealthy addiction to eggs.

Tuna

I don't know what it is about it, but this tuna ROCKS! Chicken of the Sea's got nothin'!

Chocolate -
This one is my favorite as of right now. Ginger and lemon.

And a close second is the dark Orange.

Also noteworthy are dark with chili and dark with sea salt.

Peugeot

The "Cadillac" of salt and pepper shakers. (or so I'm told) In any case, we are proud owners now. We didn't go for the mini, yet we didn't think we really needed giant, so we went with the mid-size. Does anyone else think it's weird that Peugeot makes cars and salt & pepper shakers? Wonder what else they make.

Thimbles

I collect thimbles, ever since I was a child. I haven't bought one in a while since my thimble display thingy is full. I have thimbles from all over - including North Dakota ;)

Teapots

I guess I sort of collect teapots too. I didn't realize it until the other day. I went to make tea and couldn't decide which pot to use. My favorite is the nursery rhyme pot - which is actually Hanna's.

Bacon Cheeseburger Pie

Yummilicious!

I don't know why I always have to post pictures of food. I just love to try new things in the kitchen and when I hit on something great, I have to share! (recipes are always available upon request, of course!!)

Circus

Yesterday we went to Hillerød, which is where we go if we want to go shopping, and we went swimming and to the Circus.

Swimming wasn't really my cup of tea since I'm really not used to being naked around 20 other naked women I don't know. Or 20 women that I DO know. Call me a silly American, but I like my privacy. And yes, I showered with my bathing suit on. A girl has to draw the line somewhere. I wish I was as free about my body as these Europeans.

The circus was great because it was actually in a tent. I've never been to a circus in a tent. Always been in the Fargo Dome to watch the circus. It was a neat experience. Although I have to say, they're really scraping the bottom of the barrell for circus acts when they have a girl in the ring making gigantic bubbles with a hula hoop on the end of a stick. Not that it wasn't cool, it just wasn't fire eating cool. I thought, what's next? Are they going to set a rocking chair up in the ring so we can watch Grandma knit?. But it was a fun time. And the magic acts were quite impressive.

And the best part of the day???? I got SUSHI!!!!!!!! Heaven, I'm in heaven......
